DANCELIFE UNITE
Held at UNSW in the Science Theatre
Students need to arrive in your black and white Commotion gear (or the new Troupe jackets and t-shirts if they’ve arrived in time). Hair and make-up should already be done. Hair is to be in a slick high pony for all age groups (except 6/under – whose hair is to be in two curly pigtails). No wispy bits (or flyaways)… use plenty of product to achieve that wet-look.
Full make up including red lipstick, mascara, eyeliner (which I’ve noticed that most kids aren’t wearing enough of – they need a full outline of black liquid eyeliner to make their eyes “pop” on stage), eye shadow etc.
When you arrive at the Science theatre, find the group of Commotion Kids – we’re usually set up under the stairs in the main foyer. All students need to be fully dressed and ready to go out on stage 15 MINUTES after their arrival time… this then allows me and the other teachers time to check everyone’s costume, rehearse the kids and take a group photo.
Arrival times are as follows….
Saturday 19th May:
11:30am – 6/under Jazz
12:30pm – 10/under Tap
12:30pm – 8/under Jazz
1:30pm – 10/under Jazz

12:00pm – 14/under Lyrical
1:00pm – 16/under Contemporary

4:00pm – 16/under Jazz
Tickets are purchased at the door… I’m not sure of the prices… expect around $20 (I think).
Parents, please remember to make a HUGE amount of noise at the END of each of our routines. The judges can often be influenced by audience support, plus it always makes the kids feel great when they have a proper cheer squad. Remember, no calling out names… eg “Go Commotion!” or Go Vanessa!”
After the kids have performed, they are welcome to leave whenever you want. The results for each section are usually announced at the end of each session (every few hours or so)… For those of you who can’t stay - I will post the results on the Commotion website each night.
